Make Money At Home

Question by Taylor Bradley: How to make money from home….?
I am a marine wife stationed in the middle of no where. (29 palms,ca desert.) I am also a brand new mother, with my son being days old and living in such a place, me supporting my family is hard. My husband income just isn’t cutting it and I’d really like to help out, I just can’t leave my little boy with a stranger at such a young age. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on making money from home?

The only way I know about really making money from home is internet marketing/affiliate marketing.

The great Sioux warrior-statesman Red Cloud was the only American Indian in history to defeat the United States Army in a war, forcing the government to sue for peace on his terms. At the peak of Red Cloud’s powers the Sioux could claim control of one-fifth of the contiguous United States and the loyalty of thousands of fierce fighters. But the fog of history has left Red Cloud strangely obscured. Now, thanks to the rediscovery of a lost autobiography, and painstaking research by two award-winning authors, the story of our nation’s most powerful and successful Indian warrior can finally be told.

One thing my kids all eat is Chinese food. So I figured why do we need to wait to go out for Chinese food, why not make some at home? I love the idea of saving some money and without too much effort, serving nutritious and delicious meals that everyone will enjoy.

One thing my kids all eat is Chinese food. So I figured why do we need to wait to go out for Chinese food, why not make some at home? I love the idea of saving some money and without too much effort, serving nutritious and delicious meals that everyone will enjoy. These recipes are all easy, Asian, and a big hit when I serve them. I always make roasted broccoli or cauliflower and some fresh white or brown rice to serve along side. If you have leftovers (I doubt that!), send it to school for lunch, it reheats well and stays for days.

— Wontons

… 6 ounces ground beef
… ½ large egg white, lightly beaten
… 2 medium scallions, minced
… 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
… 1 tablespoon soy sauce
… 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
… 1 garlic clove, minced25 wonton wrappers
.

— Soup

… 1 tablespoon canola oil
… 2 ounces ground beef
… 1 onion, chopped
… 2 garlic cloves, smashed
… 1 (1-inch) piece fresh ginger, sliced thin and smashed
… 8 cups chicken broth
… 1 carrot, peeled and grated3 scallions, sliced

To prepare wontons:Combine all ingredients (except wrappers) in medium bowl and mix thoroughly. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and freeze until chilled, about 10 minutes. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay 3 wrappers on dry work surface. Place 1 rounded teaspoon of filling in center of wrapper, brush edges lightly with water, and fold wrapper in half.

Place wonton on baking sheet and repeat with remaining filling and wrappers. Loosely cover wontons with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes or up to 4 hours.

For the soup:Heat oil in large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, garlic and ginger and cook, breaking up meat with wooden spoon, until cooked through, 3 to 5 minutes.

Stir in broth and bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer, cover partially and cook 25 minutes. Strain if you wish (I don’t do this).

Return strained broth to saucepan and bring to boil. Carefully add wontons, carrot and scallions and simmer until wontons are tender, about 5 minutes. Serve.

… 2 cups low-sodium soy sauce
… 1 cup packed light brown sugar
… 3/4 cup mirin (this is Japanese rice wine and is available at kosher markets nationwide)
… 8 medium garlic cloves, smashed and peeled
… 4-inch piece ginger, sliced 1/2-inch thick and smashed
… 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
… 5 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in 5 tablespoons water
… Thinly sliced green onions, for garnish

Combine all ingredients except cornstarch and green onions in a large pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce to low and simmer, covered, turning occasionally, until chicken is tender, about 30 to 35 minutes more.

Remove chicken to a serving platter. Remove garlic and ginger and discard. Bring sauce to a boil, skim off excess fat, and cook until reduced slightly, about 10 minutes. Whisk in cornstarch mixture and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add chicken, turn to coat, and serve chicken with sauce and sliced green onions. I serve it with white rice.

media.aish.com/images/cq5dam.web.266.2002.jpeg

………………..
.

… 1 1/2 cups dry sherry or red wine
… 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
… 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
… 2 1/2 pounds short ribs
… 1 tablespoon kosher salt
… 2 teaspoons five-spice powder
… 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
… 6 medium garlic cloves, smashed
… 1-inch piece ginger, sliced
… 1 small jalapeno pepper, halved

Heat the oven to 350 degrees and arrange a rack in the middle. Mix together sherry, hoisin sauce, and brown sugar until evenly combined; set aside. Pat ribs dry with a paper towel and season well with salt and five-spice powder.

Place a 3-quart Dutch oven or other heavy-bottomed, shallow pot with a tight-fitting lid over medium heat and add oil. When oil starts to smoke, add ribs and brown, about 2 minutes per side. Remove ribs to a plate and set aside. Discard all but 1 tablespoon drippings, return pan to stove, and add garlic, ginger, and chile and cook just until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in reserved sherry mixture and bring to a simmer.
Return ribs to pan and bring to a simmer. Cover and transfer to oven to cook, turning occasionally, until meat is knife tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Increase oven to 400 degrees and cook, covered, until ribs are sticky, about 30 more minutes.

This Ancient Warriors series from the Discovery Channel is an excellent look at the warrior groups and armies that shaped history. Each half-hour episode looks at a major fighting people or force and charts the reasons for their rise to dominance and subsequent fall.

The warriors highlighted are: The Assyrians, Celts, Normans, Legions of Rome, Macedonians, Soldiers of the Pharaoh, Spartans, Janissaries, Huns, Knights Templar, Vikings, Highlanders, Irish Warriors, Maurya Warriors of the Elephant, Aztecs, Samurai, Shaolin Monks, Hawaiians, Ninja, Sioux.

There are 20 episodes and almost all include re-enactors hacking and slashing at each other with great abandon. Some are better than others but, overall, the series is first-rate. The scripting is good, filled with interesting detail, and each programme follows one soldier and his life in the army. Not all of them end happily, it has to be said. People who are interested in warfare throughout the ages – or the specific warrior groups themselves – will appreciate this series.

Part 20 of 20: Ancient Warriors – Sioux

Courageous, brave and proud – the Sioux were a people of war. Forced onto the grasslands by woodland tribes in the east, they had to fight to survive. Soon they ousted neighbouring tribes, seized their hunting grounds and became known as the mightiest warriors across the heartland.

An astonishing untold story of the American West

The great Sioux warrior-statesman Red Cloud was the only American Indian in history to defeat the United States Army in a war, forcing the government to sue for peace on his terms. At the peak of Red Cloud’s powers the Sioux could claim control of one-fifth of the contiguous United States and the loyalty of thousands of fierce fighters. But the fog of history has left Red Cloud strangely obscured. Now, thanks to the rediscovery of a lost autobiography, and painstaking research by two award-winning authors, the story of our nation’s most powerful and successful Indian warrior can finally be told.

Born in 1821 near the Platte River in modern-day Nebraska, Red Cloud lived an epic life of courage, wisdom, and fortitude in the face of a relentless enemy—the soldiers and settlers who represented the “manifest destiny” of an expanding America. He grew up an orphan and had to overcome numerous social disadvantages to advance in Sioux culture. Red Cloud did that by being the best fighter, strategist, and leader of his fellow warriors. As the white man pushed farther and farther west, they stole the Indians’ land, slaughtered the venerated buffalo, and murdered with impunity anyone who resisted their intrusions. The final straw for Red Cloud and his warriors was the U.S. government’s frenzied spate of fort building throughout the pristine Powder River Country that abutted the Sioux’s sacred Black Hills—Paha Sapa to the Sioux, or “The Heart of Everything That Is.”

The result was a gathering of angry tribes under one powerful leader. “The white man lies and steals,” Red Cloud told his thousands of braves at council fire. “My lodges were many, now they are few. The white man wants all. They must fight for it.” What came to be known as Red Cloud’s War (1866–1868) culminated in a massacre of American cavalry troops that presaged the Little Bighorn and served warning to Washington that the Plains Indians would fight, and die, for their land and traditions. But many more American soldiers would die first.

In The Heart of Everything That Is, Bob Drury and Tom Clavin, the New York Times bestselling authors of Halsey’s Typhoon and The Last Stand of Fox Company, restore Red Cloud to his rightful place in American history in a sweeping and dramatic narrative based on years of primary research. As they trace the events leading to Red Cloud’s War they provide intimate portraits of the many and various men and women whose lives Red Cloud touched—mountain men such as the larger-than-life Jim Bridger; U.S. generals like William Tecumseh Sherman who were charged with annihilating the Sioux; fearless explorers such as the dashing John Bozeman; and the warriors whom Red Cloud groomed, the legendary Crazy Horse in particular. And residing at the heart of the story is Red Cloud, fighting for the very existence of the Indian way of life.

This fiery narrative, fueled by contemporary diaries and journals, newspaper reports, eyewitness accounts, and meticulous firsthand sourcing, is a stirring chronicle of the conflict between an expanding white civilization and the Plains Indians who stood in its way. The Heart of Everything That Is not only places the reader at the center of this remarkable epoch, but finally gives Red Cloud the modern-day recognition he deserves. – See more at: books.simonandschuster.com/Heart-of-Everything-That-Is/Bo…
